Along the idea of missions introducing PvP tactics, here are more ideas for missions that teach large fleet tactics.
Tackling mission: best flown with frigates or interceptors - Upon warping to mission area, you join a fleet of friendly NPC ships: BS and frigates. - Then you are gang-warped into hostile NPC BS group position. - Goal of your mission is to prevent as many hostile NPC ships from warping away while friendly NPC ships take them down. - Hostile NPC BS can web you down, so you'll have to learn to keep proper orbiting distance from hostile ships. - Your mission reward is calculated based on how many hostile NPC BS are destroyed as a result of your tackling.
Logistics mission: you can fly with logistics cruiser or RR battleship - Upon warping to mission area, you join a fleet of friendly NPC ships: BS and frigates. - Then you are gang-warped into numerically superior hostile NPC BS group position. - Goal of your mission is to keep healing friendly NPC ships so that they can overcome and destroy a larger group. - Hostile NPC ships can target you. So you may have to warp out and return frequently. - Your mission reward has 2 components: 1) victory pay, and 2) bonus based on number of friendly ships survived.
ECM mission: best flown with BB/Scorp/Falcon/Rook - Upon warping to mission area, you join a group of friendly NPC ships. - Then you are gang-warped into a group of remote rep'ing NPC battleships, whose combined repair output is superior to combined dps of friendly NPC group. - Goal of your mission is to disable remote rep of hostile ships with ECM so that friendly group can take out the hostile group. - Your mission reward has 2 components: 1) victory pay, and 2) bonus based on number of friendly ships survived. (This mission is obviously tailored towards Caldari EW pilot, but there should be missions that require other racial EW skills)
And so on.
We'd have so many more players familiar & comfortable with tactics used in PvP. This cannot be a bad thing. ------------- Would you be ready if the gravity reversed itself? |
